As we approach that time of year where albums are tallied and best-of lists are compiled, let’s revisit the albums of 2012 that fell just short of appearing on the inaugural Bucket Full of Nails Best of 2012 list.
Deciding to cut my list off at five releases, the album that fell at #6 was Heat Lightning Rumbles in the Distance by Patterson Hood.
My capsule review of Heat Lightning Rumbles in the Distance is below.
Akin to his previous solo effort, Murdering Oscar, Heat Lightning Rumbles in the Distance finds Patterson Hood in a mood. Whereas Murdering Oscar was a reflective, family-friendly output, Heat Lightning Rumbles in the Distance is an alcohol-soaked exercise in truth telling. This is a collection of laid-bare songs from an artist exercising demons.
