Is it coincidence that just yesterday NASA launched an unmanned rocket carrying the latest satellite into space while The Astronaut, the space-rock opera from Wax Fang, is scheduled to land next Tuesday, 28 January?
To support the International Space Station, Hubble Space Telescope and other space craft, NASA’s Tracking and Data Relay Satellite (TDRS) supports communication between inhabitants of the space station.
According to NASA’s deputy associate administrator for space communications and navigation, “A modern-day human space program would be difficult if not impossible without the constant coverage provided by the TDRS satellites.”
This leads one to ponder what would happen should a space traveler lose communication with the agency, his craft and fellow astronauts.
Perhaps Wax Fang’s The Astronaut will answer this question. For now, watch the video trailer for The Astronaut below and pre-order the album on CD and vinyl here.
