A fitting counterpoint to the recent Valentine’s Day holiday came in the form of the latest project from Kristina Esfandiari, former vocalist of San Francisco-based Whirr. Under the guise of Miserable, Esfandiari released the four-song Halloween Dream EP.
Filled with sorrow and harrowing guitar swells, the fuzzed soundscapes and Esfandiari’s vocal drones are more My Bloody Valentine than Danzig, resulting in a soundtrack to a heroin dream on the Day of the Dead.
