The emotional scars of love we wear and often share over the course of a relationship are examined in “Common Mistake,” the debut single from LA-based duo The Bad Years.
It’s a common mistake that I always make
Wait for the break to change both our ways
I’ll take all the blame
If you take on the shame
The Bad Years — composed of couple Sami Akbari and Aaron Mort — take a risk on their first outing by binding a weighty, romantic discussion to the dark musical undertones of Peter Hook’s (New Order) side projects Revenge and Monaco. While easy to see little future for The Bad Years if personally dealing with such an impasse, the video for “Common Mistake” may just leave you questioning your own relationship.
