Clown prince of the trailer park Porter takes a serious turn on his debut solo album, This Red Mountain.
Last heard on 2013’s Porter and The Pollies, the former Back Row Baptist and one-half of Some Dark Holler has struck out on his own following a relocation to Austin, Texas. Enlisting a who’s who of Bucket Full of Nails favorites (Will Johnson, Bonnie Whitmore, Chris Masterson, Eleanor Whitmore), Porter will release This Red Mountain on 10 March.
Straight to the middle of the hardest healin’
Right to the center of the saddest song
When I’m used up and you’re still breathing
Leave me lying where I fall
Indicative of the ten songs on This Red Mountain, first single and album opener “Hardest Healin'” signals Porter’s intent. Brimming with Texas sorrow and swagger, the single is a true group effort.
Packed with southern tales of desperation and redemption, Porter’s This Red Mountain is the first don’t-miss Americana album of 2015. The heartbreaking “Angel” alone is worth $10. Stream/download “Hardest Healin'” below and pre-order This Red Mountain here.
