First Listen: Big Strong Brute – Wait

BSB_GOODWORK_FRONTAustralia’s Paul Donoughue understands both misery and positivity. Donoghue’s Big Strong Brute shrugs off the weight of the former, opting to focus on the latter on new single “Wait.”

Having toured with the likes of Jens Lekman, First Aid Kit and Mount Eerie, Big Strong Brute was nominated for the Australian Music Prize for his 2012 debut LP, Avalanche of Truth. Set to follow up with the release Good Work on 31 July, the five-song EP is a departure from the folk-inspired Avalanche of Truth, featuring synths, studio layering and a full band flanked by members of Little Scout and The Rocketsmiths.

If the shimmery guitar pop of “Wait” is any indication, Big Strong Brute’s Good Work should prove to be an aptly-named title. Stream “Wait” below.
