First Listen: Big Harp – Diev

bigharpNot an act to linger in the past, the husband and wife duo that comprise Big Harp have moved on from their dusty roots of early albums released by Saddle Creek, added a drummer and released a one-off 7″ single earlier this year via Fat Possum, then decided to not give a shit on their latest album, Waveless. Such a gamble has paid off evidenced by the album’s first single, “Diev.”

Garage rock straight from Los Angeles, California, Stef Drootin-Senseney (wife/bass/vocals) and Chris Senseney (husband/guitar/vocals/etc.) are joined by Daniel Ocanto (drummer/third wheel), who all abide on “Diev,” their lyrical reluctance perhaps more Donnie Kerabatsos than Jeff Lebowski.

Set to roll on Shabbos, Big Harp will play with Nik Freitas and Maria Taylor this Saturday in LA at The Bootleg (get tickets here), followed by a tour with The Good Life that kicks off in Colorado on 6 November. Full schedule below.
