Let’s coin a new genre: electro-camp. One could mute the Adam West/Burt Ward Batman TV series while listening to “The Question,” the new single from avant-garde Nashville act, Linear Downfall, without missing a narrative beat — and perhaps add substance to the Zonks and Kapows that fly across the screen.
Not unlike the fabled pairing of Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon and The Wizard of Oz, which was somewhat reimagined by the Flaming Lips in 2009, Coyne and Drozd tapped Linear Downfall for the 2014 post-prog Musik, Die Schwer Zu Twerk under the guise of Electric Würms. The Nashville quartet will bring similar weirdness when they release fourth LP Sufferland on 6 November. To be packaged as a multimedia release, Sufferland will be accompanied by a film which premiered at the 2015 Nashville Film Festival.
