First Listen: Pauline Andrès – The Sad Side of Town

a3528360676_10Currently at work on the follow up to last year’s All Them Ghosts, singer/songwriter Pauline Andrès and band kill time by recording classic songs that fit within her oeuvre. Beginning with “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry” from Hank Williams, Andrès has dubbed the planned collection Broken Hearted Covers.

The second entry in the series is a faithfully rendered take on Dwight Yoakam’s “The Sad Side of Town.” Andrès’ groggy delivery adds a rustic layer of despair to the original co-written by Buck Owens.
