During the last year, Brooklyn’s Wilder Maker has issued a trilogy of EPs consisting of folk-tinged tales of love, lives and hope. With the release of Everyday Crimes Against Objects Of Desire, Vol. III, singer/songwriter Gabriel Birnbaum, Will Graefe (lead guitar), Katie Von Schleicher (keyboards/vocals/percussion), Sean Mullins (drums), and Nick Jost and Wayne Whittaker (bass) bring finality to their ambitious project.
The trilogy’s final single, “No Xmas in Bushwick,” is a deft character study of ne’er-do-wells who have occupied every postwar decade from the cold water flats of the 1950s to the creative enclave that marks the title Brooklyn neighborhood today.
Consistently brilliant, Wilder Maker’s Everyday Crimes Against Objects Of Desire trilogy points to a band with a singular vision of America, capturing its various voices who both sing and cry.
