In advance of Pure Mood, the forthcoming album from Austin, Texas noise rockers Ringo Deathstarr, the trio has released a non-album cover of “Heart and Soul” from ’80s British pop group T’Pau.
Like the original (which drew the ire of Beavis and Butthead years later), the layered vocals of Carol Decker remain, poking through a sawing maze of guitar and drums as intoned by bassist Alex Gehring. Bearing no hint of irony, Ringo Deathstarr’s shoegaze take on “Heart and Soul” most definitely does not suck.
The follow up to 2012’s Mauve, Pure Mood will be released on 20 November.
