First Listen: Horace Holloway – King of Diamonds

King of Diamonds single art

Like assembling a jigsaw puzzle in the dark, making great music requires patience, blind luck and, possibly, help from friends. Going on instinct, a proper fit just feels right no matter the time involved.

Taking seven years to complete his first musical picture, Florida-based singer/songwriter Jeff (Horace Holloway) Morrison will release his debut EP, Tin Foil Stars, later this year. Lending a hand to fill in the musical space between the completed border of his lyrics, Morrison is joined by the likes of Caitlin Cary (Whiskeytown), Scott Brackett (Murder By Death, Okkervil River), Catherine Popper (Ryan Adams and the Cardinals), Neil Flanz (Gram Parsons, Emmylou Harris) and Lauren Strahm (Fleurie).

Dealing in chance, Morrison gambles on love with “King of Diamonds,” the EP’s first single. A loping slice of Americana, all the pieces come together on “King of Diamonds,” a winning musical hand from an upstart artist flush with talent.

To be released on 25 March, you can stream Horace Holloway’s “King of Diamonds” below.
